India’s largest lender State Bank of India offers eight maturity options for retail fixed deposits, or fixed deposits up to Rs 2 crore. The maturity period starts at seven days and extends to as long as 10 years.
- In addition to this, HDFC is offering an additional interest rate of 0.25% for senior citizen investors who either open a new FD or renew their existing FD from 18th May 2020 to 30 September 2020. This offer is applicable for those who wish to book a Fixed Deposit less than 5 crores for a tenure of 5-10 years.
- The maturity period starts from 7 days up to 10 years. Bank provides 2.5 percent for 7 to 14 days to general customers and an additional 0.5 percent to senior citizens on fixed deposits. HDFC Bank revised its interest rates on fixed deposits with effect from November 13, 2020.
- The monthly deposits for account opened between 1 to 15 should be credited up to 15 th of the month and account opened between 16 to the last of the month monthly deposit should be credited by last day of the month. If the monthly installment is not credited for any particular month, then it becomes a default.
W.e.f 14th May 2020 till 31st March 2021, TDS rate is reduced from 10% to 7.5% on resident deposits. As per section 206AA introduced by finance (No.2) Act, 2009 wef 01.4.2010, every person who receives. On Thursday, HDFC Bank slashed fixed deposit rates that will be enforced starting October 15, 2020. The deposit rates have been slashed for maturities ranging between 1 and 2 years.
SBI offers interest rates of 2.9 percent to 5.4 percent to its general depositors and 3.4 percent to 6.2 percent to its senior citizens’ customers on retail FDs.
SBI changes interest rates from time to time on the basis to align them with benchmark rates. These interest rates are effective from September 10.

Mean-while, India on Tuesday recorded 31,118 new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), which pushed the nationwide tally to 9,462,809, according to a Union health ministry update at 8 am.
The number of active cases dropped further, to 4,35,603, while 88,89,585 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, health ministry data showed. The number of recovered patients has now reached.
The country recorded 482 new fatalities due to the infection in the past 24 hours, the ministry said. With this, the death toll has reached 1,37,621.
India has conducted 140 million tests to detect Covid-19 in the past 11 months, of which 10 million tests were performed during the past 10 days alone, government data shows.
The first test to diagnose Covid-19 in the country was performed on January 23, and on Monday, India performed about 900,000 tests in a single day.
India’s coronavirus tally had crossed the 9.4 million-lakh mark after 38,772 new infections were reported on Monday, as per the health ministry data.
On Sunday, the ministry had said that the national recovery rate stands at 93.71 percent. It also said that India continues to have one of the lowest deaths per million population globally (presently 99).

SBI FDs between seven to 45 days will now fetch 2.9 percent. Term deposits between 46 days to 179 days will give 3.9 percent. FDs of 180 days to less than one year will fetch 4.4 percent. Deposits with maturity between 1 year and up to less than 2 years will give 10 bps more now. These deposits will fetch an interest rate of 5 percent instead of 4.9 percent. FDs maturing in 2 years to less than 3 years will give 5.1 percent. FDs with 3 years to less than 5 years will offer 5.3 percent and term deposits maturing in 5 years and up to 10 years will continue giving 5.4 percent after the latest revision.

Across different tenures, Axis Bank offers FDs ranging from 7 days to 10 years. The bank gives interest on FDs ranging from 2.5 percent to 5.50 percent for general customers. On select maturities, Axis Bank offers a higher interest rate to senior citizens. The bank offers interest ranging from 2.50 percent to 6 percent to senior citizens.

FD interest rates Punjab National Bank (below Rs 2 crore) effective January 1, 2021:
On fixed deposits maturing in the range of 7 days to 10 years, PNB is offering an interest rate ranging between 3 percent and 5.30 percent. On 7-45 days fixed deposits, PNB is offering an interest rate of 3 percent and it goes up 4.5 percent on less than 1 year FDs. PNB gives 5.20 percent interest on term deposits maturing in one year to up to 3 years. On deposits maturing above 5 years to 10 years, PNB is offering 5.30 percent interest. The Senior citizens shall get an additional rate of interest of 50 bps over applicable card rates for all maturities on domestic deposits of less than Rs 2 crore.

On deposits between 7 days and 29 days, HDFC Bank offers a 2.50 percent interest rate. 3 percent on deposits maturing in 30-90 days. On 91 days to 6 months, 3.5 percent and on 6 months 1 day to less than one year, 4.4 percent. The bank gives 4.9 percent on FDs maturing in one year. Term deposits maturing in one year and two years will fetch an interest rate of 4.9 percent. FDs maturing in 2 years to 3 years will give 5.15 percent, 3 years to 5 years will give 5.30 percent. Deposits with a maturity period of 5 years to 10 years will give 5.50 percent interest.

FD interest rates ICICI Bank (below Rs 2 crore) effective from October 21, 2020:
ICICI Bank gives 2.5 percent interest on deposits maturing in 7 days to 29 days, 3 percent for 30 days to 90 days, 3.5 percent for FDs maturing in 91 days to 184 days. On deposits maturing in 185 days to less than 1 year, ICICI Bank gives an interest rate of 4.40 percent. Term deposits maturing in 1 year to less than 18 months will fetch an interest rate of 4.9 percent. Now, FDs with tenure of 18 months to 2 years will give you 5 percent interest. Term deposits maturing in 2 years to 3 years will give 5.15 percent, 3 years to 5 years 5.35 percent, and 5 years to 10 years 5.50 percent.
